Reset and Keep Your New Year’s Resolution Goals

keep your new years goalsIt’s the last week of January, so I wanted to check in to see how you are doing with your new year’s resolutions. Are you part of the 8% that are succeeding in meeting their goals or the 92% who abandon them? If you are part of the 92% who feel like they have already failed at keeping your new year’s resolutions then I have some good news for you. There is a way to get back on track!

Do you think those 8% who reach their goals weren’t were 100% perfect every day all day? Of course not! The difference is that they got back on track.

Here’s my secret on how you can get your goals back on track. Are you ready?

Treat every day like its New Year’s day. Every new day is January 1st.

If at the end of the day you feel like you didn’t live up to your goal my best recommendation is to try again tomorrow. God-willing you are given another day to get back on track to change our circumstances or make a difference in the world and the people you surround yourself with on a daily basis. Don’t give up and abandon your dreams or goals – try again!

If it’s too weird to think of every day as January 1st, then here is another solution. On the first day of every month, do a quick check-in! Ask yourself where you are at in relation to your goals. How did you do the previous month? Then make adjustments to set yourself up for better success.

For example, if your goal was to walk 5 days a week then on average that would be 20 days for the entire month, but you were only able to do 15. Your goal for the next month would be to beat your previous month of 15.

Regardless of how you want to think of it the point is to never give up on your goals. I love this quote from Audrey Hepburn: “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says I’m possible.”
